IF you’ve ever been to a film musical and had the uncontrollable urge to burst into song, then Glasgow’s Theatre Royal is the place to be in the New Year.

Two one-off specials have been announced, Sing-a-Long-a Joseph and Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music.

For Sing-a-Long-a Joseph, the show’s host will lead a vocal warm-up, take the audience through their free “magic moments” pack and suggest how to join in.

Then the audience become the stars of the show, singing their hearts out to the on-screen lyrics.

A spokesman for the Theatre Royal said: “The film features heart-throb Donny Osmond, plus a host of favourite stars including Joan Collins, Richard Attenborough, and Christopher Biggins.

“Add spectacular sets, tons of energy and some of the best songs ever written and the result is a fabulous night out for everyone.”

Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music runs on similar lines, where you can test your vocal range with several hundred other assorted nuns, Von Trapp family members and Julie Andrews look-a-likes.

The spokesman added: “The evening begins with a live show in which the host will lead you through a vocal warm-up, judge the fancy dress competition and award the prizes.

“Costumes aren’t compulsory but they are highly recommended and you will be amazed at the inventiveness on display.”

Both special shows will take place on Saturday, January 12.

Sing-a-long-a Joseph starts at 2.30pm and Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music, at 7pm.
